C'ERANO UNA VOLTA I R.E.M.: SAPERE DI TUTTO UN PO'
Di Athens in Georgia (USA) il nome sta per Rapid Eye Movement, una band che segnerà uno dei più interessanti dall'inizio degli anni '80. La musica tendenzialmente rock neo-psichedelico con sfumature jingle jangle tipico dei famosi Byrds degli anni '60, molto più evoluto anche come testi molto impegnati socialmente.Già nel 1981 arrivano i primi riconoscimenti dall critica e popolarità. Con il passare degli anni si migliorano musicalmente e esprimono, accompgnati da bellissimi videoclip, ad essere diventati una band di culto. Nei primi anni novanta incidono, forse il migliore della loro discografia, " Automatic for the people", Il batterista intanto lascia il gruppo per problemi di salute, colpito da aneurisma cerebrale durante una tournee in Svizzera. A livello produttivo il gruppo si fa aiutare da Pat McCarthy. Compongono anche colonne sonore come " Man on the moon". Molti sono anche i singoli di successo.
Alla fine dell'anno passato hannodeciso di smettere la loro esperienza musicale. Grazie di tutto ci mancherete.
